Bright, juicy, and completely centered around sheer drinkability, this medium-bodied red is an absolute joy to share. It channels the crunchy red fruit profile and easy-going charm of a great Beaujolais, highlighting fresh red berry and cherry fruit notes alongside a very subtle touch of spice and silky, approachable tannins. Grapes are picked early in the harvest season with 50% sorted into a whole-cluster natural fermentation to provide structural backbone and perfume, while regular juice pump-overs extract maximum primary fruit energy.

The philosophy at Rook en Spieels is entirely focused on crafting minimal-intervention wines that capture the Cape's most captivating, historic fruit. This old-vine Cinsault is sourced from dry-grown bush vines planted back in the early 1990s right on the border of Paarl and the Swartland. Thriving with less than 300mm of annual rainfall, these resilient vines produce tiny, exceptionally concentrated grapes that tell a pure story of the rugged South African landscape.
