The initial pour creates the cascade effect to form a thick, tight, and full creamy head. Balanced flavours of roasted barley and subtle notes of chocolate and coffee. Wondering what’s the difference between a Nitro beer and a beer carbonated with CO2? In simple terms, nitrogen beers differ from CO2 due to their bubbles. CO2 beers are likely to have larger bubbles while nitrogenated beers have smaller tighter bubbles. This gives the beer a smoother and creamer “mouthfeel” The smaller bubbles also lead to more stable foam/head and offer better head retention to create a amazingly smooth pint. But how do they do it? By using widget cans, which are normal cans but with a a small plastic cap at the bottom of the can, and during the canning process, minute drops of liquid nitrogen at -195C are added to the filled cans, which trickles into a hole in the widget. Once opened, the widget releases the nitrogen into the beer to give the cascade effect of the tiny nitrogen bubbles rising to form a thick creamy head and velvety texture.
