Super drinkable low intervention wine.  This is a wonderfully expressive Carignan, skilfully blending the intensity of old vines with the vibrancy of new ones. Grapes are sourced from two distinct vineyards: one, the oldest planting of Carignan in South Africa, and a second, younger plot. The wine from the old vines is aged for nine months in large French oak to build complexity, while a portion of the younger vine fruit is fermented in whole bunches to introduce a fresh, lively character.

Rook en Spieëls, which translates to 'Smoke and Mirrors', is a project focused on crafting exceptional wines from South Africa’s old, established vineyards. Working with minimal intervention, they allow the unique terroir of each site to speak for itself. The 'Bosbrand' or 'Bushfire' Carignan is a testament to this philosophy, a wine that balances the rugged concentration of sun-drenched fruit with a refined, energetic finish. The result is a memorable wine that captures the spirit of its origins.
