For the sixth beer in this series of juicy IPAs, Northern Monk have teamed up with their friends out in Gothenburg, Stigbergets, and their new friends (from much further afield), Hop Revolution - a hop farm in New Zealand. Stigbergets’ flagship ‘New & Improved’ IPA heavily showcases Nelson Sauvin, so Northern Monk decided to blend their favourite elements of this beer with their own ‘Heathen’ NEIPA. They doubled the dry hop and created a juice bomb. The base heavily features malted and flaked oats, plus a portion of malted wheat, for that classic, silky-smooth, thick and creamy New England base. Using the unique chardonnay grape and gooseberry flavours of Nelson Sauvin as lead hop, backed up with Mosaic and Citra, the other common varieties between the two recipes, bringing the total dry hop rate to 24g/l. This brings layers of ripe tropical fruit to complement the citrus and peach overtones of Northern Monk's house yeast, underpinning the NZ hop aromas.
